Unilever Vietnam was recognised among Top 10 Sustainable Businesses in Viet Nam at the Corporate Sustainability Index (CSI) programme 2021 organised by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI).
It is the sixth consecutive year that Unilever Vietnam has received the title for the company’s efforts in promoting sustainable development through its plastic waste management strategy, people’s health and hygiene condition improvement and livelihood and life quality enhancement programmes.
In the framework of this year’s CSI programme, Unilever Vietnam was also honored in the Top 5 Outstanding Businesses with a commitment to gender equality at the workplace for the company’s efforts towards women's empowerment over several years.
This is the first year CSI Program has made evaluation and compliments in specific aspects of sustainable business development.
The CSI programme has been held annually since 2015 with the participation of a wide range of businesses of all industries and sizes across the country.
The programme benchmarking is based on the Corporate Sustainability Index (CSI), which perfectly complements the Enterprise Development Indicators annually announced by the Government on October 12.
“Unilever believes that in addition to maintaining and recovering the production and business operation, contributing to the Government's dual goals of pandemic prevention and economic growth in the 'new normal' stage, sustainable development activities need to be more focused and promoted as sustainable development and business development are inseparable," said Do Thai Vuong, vice president of Sustainable Business and Communications, Unilever Vietnam. "This is also the motivation for us to make more efforts in this journey.”
Unilever Vietnam also received the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) 2021 CSR Recognition Award for the company’s efforts in creating long-term economic and social values in Viet Nam, especially action and commitment to assisting Viet Nam to overcome the challenging time due to the COVID-19 pandemic, typically through the “Stay Strong Vietnam” campaign implemented by the company in collaboration with the Ministry of Health.
“Even in this challenging time of uncertainty and anxiety, Unilever Vietnam stepped up their CSR effort to help address society’s needs during the COVID-19 crisis. Their commitment to transparency, good governance, and sustainable business practices provides a model for others to follow in Viet Nam and helps make the business and social environment better for all of us,” said Adam Sitkoff, executive director of the AmCham in Ha Noi.
AmCham’s CSR Recognition Award is held to honour business members that demonstrate an understanding of the link between business operations and society, aiming at creating economic and social sustainable development. — VNS
