Unilever Vietnam received the Corporate Sustainability Award from Nhip Cau Dau Tu magazine for its efforts on the journey of sustainable development.
The awards honour businesses who proactively implement sustainable development strategies, commit to green growth and deliver corporate social responsibilities to the community.
From its first days in Viet Nam in 1995 until now, Unilever Vietnam has constantly integrated sustainable development into all business strategies and activities by protecting the environment and improving people's health and living conditions.
The company, cooperating with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, has built and led the Public-Private Collaboration to drive the Circular Economy in Plastic Waste Management. The programme has helped build the system of waste segregation at source and plastic waste collection, raised people's awareness, applied technology to plastic waste processing, and advocated for favourable policies. It has currently set up 150 plastic waste stations, collected more than 12,000 tonnes of plastic waste and achieved 17.3 million reaches through communications and counting.
The company also drives sustainable packaging by using less plastic, reducing virgin plastic and increasing the use of post-consumer recycled plastic, as well as using better plastic by improving the packaging recyclability.
Unilever Vietnam has decreased 55 per cent of virgin plastic in packaging production and achieved 72 per cent packaging recyclability.
In addition, Unilever Vietnam also plays the catalyst role in the journey of greenhouse gas emissions reduction, contributing to tackling climate change. Until now, Unilever Vietnam has already achieved net zero emissions within its operations, aiming for net zero throughout the value chain by 2039.
For the fourth consecutive year, Unilever Vietnam was also honoured as "Best Companies to work for in Asia" by HR Asia Magazine for its initiatives and actions to build a workplace focusing on people development and outstanding human resource policies.
From a survey of 46,270 employees from 622 businesses in Viet Nam, the award is a meaningful gift for the relentless efforts of all Unilever employees. — VNS
