TTC Group opens solar power plant in Bình Thuận

TTC Group and its affiliate Gia Lai Hydropower JSC on Thursday inaugurated the TTC - Ham Phu 2 solar power plant in Binh Thuan Province.

Situated in Ham Phu Commune, Ham Thuan Bac District, about 30km from Phan Thiet City, the plant has a capacity of 49 MWp and costs over US$43 million.

About 148,470 solar panels have been installed and the plant has been linked to the power grid.

Its EPC contractors were Sharp Group, which has more than 60 years of experience in the field of solar energy, and NSN Construction & Engineering JSC, and the consulting unit and project manager is Bureau Veritas Vietnam Co Ltd.

The plant will supply over 76 million kilowatt hours of electricity year, meeting the demand from over 34,000 households, reducing 21,398 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year.

Speaking at the inauguration, Tan Xuan Hien, president of TTC Energy Segment, said TTC-Ham Phu 2 solar power plant is TTC Group’s sixth solar power plant and the first solar plant in Binh Thuan Province.

“With its large capacity, the plant will contribute to the development of the local economy and the renewable energy industry in the province, which has among the highest potential for renewables in the country.”

“Thanks to careful preparation from many years, possession of a large unencumbered parcel of land the experience gained from collaborating with two famous Japanese contractors, TTC Energy Segment has understood the technology and confidently embarked on projects to meet the increasing demand for electricity and ensure national energy security,” a spokesperson for the investors said.

At the ceremony, Gia Lai Hydropower JSC donated VND300 million ($12,841) to the Study Promotion Fund of Ham Thuan Bac District.

TTC next plans to begin operation of the 44.4 MWp Truc Son solar power plant in Dak Nong Province in June. — VNS
