Tran Dinh Nhan was appointed CEO of Vietnam Electricity (EVN) on Thursday after the position was vacant for seven months.

The appointment decision was handed over by Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung in Ha Noi.

Nhan was Chairman of the Executive Board and General Director of the Central Power Corporation before taking the new position. He replaces Dang Hoang An, who was transferred to the Ministry of Industry and Trade as the Deputy Minister seven months ago.

Nhan, 55, graduated from the Da Nang Technology University. He has held many key positions at EVN’s member companies.

Speaking at the appointment ceremony in Ha Noi, Nhan said the appointment was a great honour but also a big challenge. He pledged to do his best, together with EVN members, to overcome all challenges to the corporation’s sustainable development, ensuring energy security for the country. — VNS
