Global social platform TikTok has announced plans to invest in innovative solutions for small and medium-sized enterprises in Viet Nam.

The company said it would help SMEs develop their advertising capabilities through the use of short videos.

On Thursday, it signed a strategic agreement with the Viet Nam E-commerce Association (VECOM) to develop the latter’s members’ capability in advertising through short-form videos.

In recent years, short-form videos have become a new advertising trend world-wide.

In Viet Nam, this format is increasingly gaining attention from enterprises, especially SMEs, due to the creativity and efficiency it allows in marketing campaigns.

But many face difficulties related to accessing digital platforms and digitising.

A report by the Viet Nam Chamber Commerce and Industry in March said 57.6 per cent of SMEs in Viet Nam do not have sufficient resources to digitise their business operations in terms of funding, knowledge and experience.

An Bui, the head of business marketing, TikTok Vietnam, said: “Small and medium-sized enterprises are the backbone of the economy in general and for TikTok business’s developing direction in particular.

“Our aim is to become a professional and accessible platform that helps businesses of every scale to connect with customers.

“In future we will … promptly update in-depth information about the Vietnamese market, and help SMEs develop capability in advertising with short-form videos." — VNS
