B2S, a leading Thai stationery chain and member of the Central Group, has donated books and equipment to the Thailand Studies “information room” at the HCM City University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

It has gifted nearly 200 books on Thai language and culture, laptops, speakers, printers, and 30 sets of tables and chairs for lecturers and students besides renovating the room, all of which cost nearly VND200 million (US$8,786).

Speaking at the handover ceremony, Jariya Chirathivat of Central Group Viet Nam said: “Central Group Vietnam in general and B2S in particular want to contribute to the development of Vietnamese education through various activities like sponsoring e-libraries, giving scholarships and building schools.

“The Central Group’s contribution today is seen as a bridge connecting the two countries through sharing the Thai language and culture with students at USSH.”

Dr Ho Minh Quang, head of the Oriental Studies faculty at USSH, said the sponsored equipment is expected to make a significant contribution to improving the quality of education. — VNS
