Sri Lankan tea brand Dilmah expects to enjoy 20 per cent growth annually for the next several years.

Speaking on the sidelines of an event dubbed Real Tea Appreciation in HCM City last Friday, Dilhan Fernando, CEO of Dilmah Tea, said: “In the imported tea segment [in Viet Nam], we are growing. We offer different tastes, different flavours, and different stories [of tea]... We are very happy with the growth in Viet Nam.”

Many Vietnamese are looking for different tastes and experiences not only in tea, but also in food and beverages, he said.

It is a great opportunity to “present Vietnamese consumers with something different at Taste of Ceylon,” he said.

Real Tea Appreciation, held for the first time in Viet Nam by Dilmah, sought to introduce new tea experiences to tea lovers and hospitality professionals.

It was attended by VIPs from Viet Nam’s premium hospitality sector who were introduced also to the history and categories of teas, basics of the tea manufacturing process, terroir in tea, a tea and food pairing programme, and a tea mixology demo by Dilmah’s award winning tea maker Robert Schinkel.

Fernando said: “Each tea has its own story and by sharing these stories the appreciation and enjoyment of the tea is enhanced. — VNS
