Standard Chartered Bank Vietnam and Vietnam Airlines on Friday launched the co-branded Vietnam Airlines - Standard Chartered EliteFly Debit Card, the first of its kind in Viet Nam and offering clients a number of benefits.

Clients need to open a Standard Chartered EliteFly account to get the card, the first debit card that allows clients to earn Lotusmiles which can be redeemed for tickets and other rewards from Vietnam Airlines.

Clients can also add miles through transactions including term deposits, life insurance purchases and spending, Nguyen Thi Huyen Vinh, deputy director of the airlines’ Lotusmiles Centre, said.

Qualifying clients can be offered or upgraded to Lotusmiles Titanium membership, which allows them to get priority checking in and onboarding services, seating, extra baggage allowance, and award tickets for relatives, according to Huyen.

Clients can earn more than 360,000 Lotusmiles, enough to redeem for an around-the-world ticket from Vietnam Airlines and other Skyteam member airlines.

Nirukt Sapru, CEO Vietnam and ASEAN and South Asia Cluster Markets, Standard Chartered Bank, said, “The partnership with the iconic national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines underscores our strong commitment to being ‘Here for good’ in Viet Nam over the long run.

“Standard Chartered has been in Viet Nam for over 115 years and remains fully committed to the country and to our clients here.” — VNS
