SSI Asset Management, a subsidiary of SSI Securities Corporation, and Union Securities Investment Trust Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of the Union Bank of Taiwan, has signed an agreement for co-operation in various areas of investment.

Attending the signing ceremony in Taiwan on June 4 were Denfer Hung, senior executive vice president of UBOT, Monica Chuang, general director of its securities subsidiary, Lê Thị Lệ Hằng, chief strategy officer of SSI, Nguyễn Ngọc Anh, CEO of SSIAM, and other senior leaders.

The two will co-operate in customer development in Việt Nam and Taiwan, establishing new investment funds that are aligned with the development orientation of both sides and sharing investment opportunities.

Việt Nam has become an attractive investment destination for Taiwanese businesses, not only in the form of direct investment but also investment in its stock market.

Capital flows from Taiwan through investment funds keep increasing, demonstrating the confidence of Taiwanese financial institutions in Việt Nam’s economic growth and stock market prospects, especially in the context that Việt Nam is determined to upgrade its market ranking status.

According to USITC, the partnership with SSIAM, one of Việt Nam's leading asset management companies, will enable Taiwanese investors to participate in the Vietnamese market.

With its more than 17 years of experience in the market, an investment team with in-depth knowledge of the market and international experience in asset management and diverse investment products and services, SSIAM said it would help USITC and UBOT investors profitably access the Vietnamese market.

A SSIAM representative said it is the first step for the company to participate in the Taiwanese market.

With its knowledge and experience, SSIAM could collaborate with USITC to develop new competitive products in the market, she added.

Also at the ceremony SSI and UBOT signed an agreement to expand the customer system while strengthening the partnership through the cooperation between their two subsidiaries.

In 2020, SSI signed a contract for an unsecured loan worth US$85 million with a group of 15 foreign banks led by UBOT.

Subsequently, UBOT always acted as the leading bank for foreign syndicated unsecured loans worth $118 million (2021) and $145 million (2022) for SSI. — VNS
