SSA Marine and the Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province Department of Transport earlier this week signed a memorandum of understanding for developing an international cruise ship terminal in Vung Tau City.

SSA Marine is an international port operator headquartered in Seattle, the US, and active in more than 200 locations across five continents, developing and managing cruise, bulk and container terminals.

It handles around 30 million containers and 113.5 million tonnes of bulk cargo per year, while its cruise terminals serve 6.6 million passengers.

SSA is among the worlds largest private port operators.

In Viet Nam, SSA owns and operates two port joint ventures employing about 400 workers.

The facilities in Cai Lan in the northern city of Ha Long and Cai Mep in Vung Tau are equipped with the most modern and technically advanced cargo handling machinery available.

Both are deep-water facilities capable of accommodating the largest cargo ships.
