Shinhan Bank has donated VND528.5 million (US$23,000) for disaster relief in the central province of Quang Binh, which was hit by historical floods.

The money was voluntarily contributed by its employees and raised through other internal charity activities.

The bank collaborated with Quang Binh Radio and Television to organise relief visits by its staff to Le Thuy and Quang Ninh districts to hand over the donations.

It gave relief materials to 315 families in Le Thuy District’s My Thuy Commune, the place hardest hit by the recent floods.

It gave scholarships worth almost VND69 million ($2,990) to 137 students in Lien Thuy High School.

Around 630 families in Quang Ninh District’s An Ninh Commune were given food and other necessaries.

Shin Dong Min, CEO of Shinhan Bank Vietnam, said the charity conveyed the love and support of each Shinhan member for people in central Viet Nam.

The bank also donated essential items and notebooks worth VND100 million ($4,335) to 200 students in Thua Thien-Hue Province, and blankets worth VND50 million ($2,170) to 100 children in Quang Binh Province. — VNS
