HCM CITY (Biz Hub) — Sharp Viet Nam unveiled its new washing machine collection in HCM City on Tuesday, hoping it will help increase market share in the country to around 7 per cent in 2016.
The collection has six new models with capacities of 7kg to 10.2kg, and their prices start at VND4.5 million (US$206), the Japanese company said.
The collection features many new technologies like the "Eco Drum" in which the tub does not have holes to prevent fungi, it said, adding this technology also helps save water by 30 per cent.
Pham The Chung, deputy CEO of the company, said the washing machines would be imported from Thailand, and Viet Nam, Sharp's biggest washing machine market in Southeast Asia, would be the major market for the collection.
But Sharp has a modest washing machine market share in Viet Nam of les than 5 per cent, and hopes to increase it to 6-7 per cent next year with the new collection. — VNS
