HA NOI (Biz Hub) – Sixty scholarships have been awarded to students in finance, accounting, banking and auditing studies.
The scholarships were presented by Deloitte Viet Nam and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) as part of the Lighting Up Your Future scholarships programme.
The scholarships, awarded to students in Ha Noi and HCM City, seek to help develop careers in the auditing and advisory sectors. The goal of the scholarships is to motivate outstanding students from disadvantaged backgrounds, according to officials.
The programme, providing scholarships valued at VND1.2 billion (US$57,000), are distributed as VND10 million ($476) per student. In addition, Deloitte's special summer internship program is available to second, third and fourth year students, while ACCA offered a VND5 million scholarship for its accounting and software training courses.
Speaking at the awards ceremony, deputy minister of Education and Training Tran Quang Quy said the scholarships would not only support disadvantaged students, but become a bridge connecting students with businesses, thus providing them real experiences after their graduations from universities.
Ha Thu Thanh, director of Deloitte Viet Nam, said the scholarships would also enable students to develop excellence in their industries.
