Samsung Việt Nam organised a Corporate Social Responsibility Day (CSR Day) for the first time ever yesterday, to provide an overview of the community projects that Samsung has carried out in Việt Nam.

Attending the event were agencies, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), universities, and press agencies that support Samsung in its social responsibility initiatives.

Numerous events were held in conjunction with CSR Day such as the Samsung Hope School, the Solve for Tomorrow competition, and the Samsung Innovation Campus (SIC) talent training program for technology; blood donation program, CSR kiosks, and the Vietnamese national team's participation in the World Skills Competition; displays of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations’ (VUFO) initiatives.

Besides, under the framework of CSR Day, Samsung also organises the CSR Week programme from November 6 to 10 at all Samsung's branches in Việt Nam.

Furthermore, there are 50,788 Samsung employees engaged in social contribution activities in 2023, accruing over 100,000 hours of engagement overall.

With 16 CSR Kiosks established at Samsung branches, Samsung has also implemented the CSR Kiosk donation swipe card model, which allows donations of up to VNĐ15.5 billion.

Sharing at the event, Choi Joo Ho, President of Samsung Vietnam, said: “For Samsung and FDI enterprises, Việt Nam is not simply an investment market but also a nurturing land for foreign businesses. And businesses need to continuously improve this land to develop sustainably. Samsung commits to becoming a leader in social responsibility initiatives that support and advance Việt Nam”.

“In its journey of efforts to develop to become the largest FDI enterprise in Việt Nam, Samsung has received enthusiastic companionship and support from the Government, local agencies and numerous Vietnamese people. In particular, the love and support of the Vietnamese people have contributed greatly to Samsung's success today."

Participating in the event, Nguyễn Phương Hoa, Director of the Department of International Co-operation, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said: "We appreciate the economic values that Samsung has brought, and appreciate Samsung Group's investment in research and development and training of high-quality human resources in Việt Nam. I hope that the Samsung Group and businesses will continue to support meaningful programmes like this in order to spread good values and contribute to the community."

Currently, Samsung is giving Việt Nam the highest CSR budget among the nations in which this group makes investments. Samsung's “Together for Tomorrow - Enabling People” vision focuses on the implementation of initiatives aimed at fostering the next generation of youth.

This event will continue to nurture and grow in the future as a platform for exchanging insightful experiences and information for a better future for both Việt Nam and Samsung, with the bridge of initiatives showcasing corporate social responsibility. — VNS
