Samsung Vietnam on Thursday visited and assessed the results of improvement consulting for companies in the northern province of Hai Duong.
The programme followed a project to evaluate the improvement results of the consulting round, which took place from July 13 to September 25.
The enterprises were two firms being consulted by South Korean experts including Viet Nam Pattern Manufacture and Precision Mechanical Co Ltd (VMC), Dong Bang Co Ltd. This was the first time Samsung experts have co-ordinated with Vietnamese consultants to provide consultancy for three enterprises including Camex Viet Nam Co Ltd, Hien Le Trading and Service Co Ltd and Nam Quang JSC.
In 12 weeks, South Korean experts surveyed, evaluated and consulted with the enterprises to improve manufacturing processes and complete standards to supply products and components, helping them improve competitiveness and participate in the global supply chain.
VMC, a member of An Phat Holdings, has been evaluated as a capable mould enterprise and successfully completed the project. In two months working with Samsung experts, VMC made many improvements in 5S standards, helping increase autonomy in the mould and improving their capacity.
In the past two years, An Phat Holdings and Samsung Vietnam have had lots of important co-operation to promote the development of the support industry. In 2019, its two members, Ha Noi Plastics and An Trung Industries, successfully completed the programme of innovation and outstanding production capacity, in which An Trung Industries has joined Samsung’s supply chain.
An Phat Holdings is considered the leading high-tech enterprise of Hai Duong Province with a system of factories and first-class equipment. In the support industry, it has two enterprises in the province including An Trung Industries and VMC, focusing on manufacturing plastic components in support industries and moulds. VMC hopes to become the leading mould factory in Viet Nam.
Choi Joo Ho, President of Samsung Vietnam, said: “Having witnessed first-hand the improvement results of businesses after only three months, I appreciate the efforts of the enterprises in Hai Duong. I hope that this collaboration with South Korean experts will bring a lot of useful experiences for Vietnamese consultants to continue reaping many successes in innovation consulting activities for future Vietnamese enterprises.”
Samsung has consulted 167 businesses since 2015 in the annual programme.
Through years of searching, connecting, and consulting to support Vietnamese businesses, the number of tier-1 suppliers of Samsung has increased dramatically from only four in 2014 to 42 firms in 2019. The number is expected to reach 50 this year. — VNS
