Thousands of families took part in a cooking contest called ‘999 Vietnamese Families together with Saigon Co.op Cook Three Regional Dishes” held at Saigon Co.op’s supermarkets and shopping malls across the country last weekend.

It was one of a series of activities to celebrate Vietnamese Family Day on June 28 and the 33rd anniversary of Saigon Co.op.

The foods that were cooked were donated to shelters, open houses and charity facilities.

The entire programme was live-streamed on the Co.opmart fanpage from Ha Noi, Da Nang, Buon Ma Thuot, Tay Ninh, Long An, Ca Mau, and the co-operative’s headquarters in HCM City.

Saigon Co. op’s retail systems, Co.opmart, Co.opXtra, Co.opFood, Co.opSmile, Cheers, Finelife, HTVCo.op, Scvivo City, and Sense City are also running promotions until July 13, including a super sales programme on weekends, weekend flash sales, and a weekend fair with discounts on dairy products, soft drinks, cattle meat, poultry meat and eggs, and others.

Besides, the co-operative is also in the city Department of Industry and Trade’s ‘Shopping Season’ programme and is offering discounts of over 50 per cent on household utensils, cosmetics and home care, garment and other products.

Saigon Co.op is considered the pioneer of modern retailing in Viet Nam. It opened its first Co.opmart supermarket on HCM City’s Cong Quynh Street in 1996.

It now has over 1,000 supermarkets and malls and gets over one million customers every day. — VNS
