DONG THAP (Biz Hub) — Viet Nam's leading retail operator Saigon Co-op on October 14 started construction on Co.opmart Sa Dec in Dong Thap Province, its second store in the province, in an effort to expand its retailing trade nationwide.

Covering 12,000sq.m, the two-storey store located on Sa Dec City's Nguyen Sinh Sac Street is expected to cost more than VND170 billion (US$7.6 million).

It will sell more than 30,000 items, of which 90 per cent are locally made.

Scheduled to open in the third quarter of next year, the supermarket will be a distribution site for price-stabilised goods and act as a bridge to enable the provinces' products and specialties to enter the Co.opmart chain nationwide. — VNS
