Ørsted and T&T Group signed a landmark agreement with the Ministry of Planning and Investment’s (MPI) National Innovation Center (NIC) to enhance technical capacity and build technological expertise in Viet Nam’s emerging offshore wind sector on November 1.
The five-year cooperation agreement was signed as part of the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of Danish-Vietnamese diplomatic relations with a visit by their Royal Highnesses the Crown Prince and Crown Princess of Denmark.
This agreement was the first of its kind in the offshore wind industry in Viet Nam. It will bring together world-leading offshore wind researchers and technology providers with top Vietnamese universities, research institutions and industrial players to deliver custom-made solutions for Viet Nam’s offshore wind industry.
This initiative was to launch an Offshore Wind R&D and Training Centre under NIC. This will act as a focal point for human resource development, technology transfer, supply chain development and research to make offshore wind a success in Viet Nam.
Sebastian Hald Buhl, Country Manager of Ørsted Vietnam, said: “Ørsted is proud to join forces with NIC to nurture the future talent and technology which will drive Viet Nam’s transition to green energy in the decades ahead."
Nguyen Thi Thanh Binh, deputy general director of T&T Group, said: “The event demonstrates the determination and responsibility of businesses to support the Government’s aim of developing the offshore wind industry towards economic development in harmony with green and sustainable growth and to help realise the goal of zero net emissions in Viet Nam by 2050.” — VNS
