Phu Nhuan Jewelry Joint Stock Company’s Charity Fund and the Office of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs of HCM City’s Phu Nhuan District have granted scholarships to 100 poor students in the district.

Each consists of VND900,000 to VND1.2 million, depending on the student’s grade, in cash and 20 notebooks.

Huynh Van Tan, PNJ’s communications director, said this is the 18th year his company has given these scholarships, and nearly 2,000 students have received nearly VND2 billion (US$85,954) so far.

Established in 2005, the PNJ Charity Fund has contributed nearly VND40 billion to social programmes such as the Vu A Dinh Scholarship, scholarships for disadvantaged students in Con Dao District in Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province, and in Ben Tre Province and building houses for poor people around the country. — VNS
