The Committee for Management of State Capital at Enterprises on Wednesday appointed Le Manh Hung as the new general director of the Viet Nam National Oil and Gas Group (PVN), starting July 1, 2019.
Hung will replace Nguyen Vu Truong Son, whose resignation was approved in April.
Prior to his appointment, Hung was vice general director of the group. On June 20, Hung was appointed a member of PVN’s board of directors for a five-year period.
Born in 1973 in the northern province of Hung Yen, Hung has expertise in petrochemical and organic synthesis technology engineers. He also has a PhD in petrochemical and organic catalysts.
He has many years working in the oil and gas industry. Since 2000, he has worked as a technology engineer at the Viet Nam-Russia oil and gas joint venture; Drilling Mud Corporation (DMC).
In 2006, he was transferred to the Government Office to work for the Oil and Gas Department. A year later, he returned to PVN as vice head of the Gas and Oil Processing Division.
In 2009, he was appointed deputy general director of Long Son Petrochemicals Co Ltd and head of Ca Mau Gas Power Fertiliser Project Management Board.
In 2011, he was appointed general director of PetroVietnam Ca Mau Fertiliser Joint Stock Company.
Since 2013, Hung has been working as vice general director of PVN in charge of the oil refinery industry; gas industry and electricity projects, as well as quality management and information technology. — VNS
