Visa, the world's leading electronic payment technology company, and the Viet Nam National Petroleum Group (Petrolimex) officially implemented Visa contactless card payment at Petrolimex petrol stations nationwide on Tuesday.
Dang Tuyet Dung, Visa Country Manager for Viet Nam and Laos, said that contactless transactions optimised the experience for customers when refuelling.
This solution helped reduce customer service pressure and speed up payments, as well as ensure the safety of users and transactions, she added.
Luu Van Tuyen, Petrolimex deputy director-general and head of the Cashless Payment Project, said this move was a part of the strategy to build the group into a leading enterprise in digital transformation, based on smart, safe, and innovative technology platforms with the goal of optimising service quality, fostering trust and customer satisfaction, at the same time, speeding up the digital transformation process at Petrolimex.
Visa research on consumer payment attitudes last year showed that Viet Nam was on track to increase contactless payments with nearly 46 per cent of consumers using this payment method.
In addition, six out of 10 contactless card payment users have transacted more often since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, and up to one in three Vietnamese consumers said they would use cashless payments for future petrol purchases. — VNS
