Panasonic Vietnam organised the Panasonic Eco relay tree planting programme and donated 13,500 trees to the Xuan Lien Natural Reserve and neighbouring areas.
This year’s programme has brought the total tree donation to more than 360,000 trees across Viet Nam over the past 10 years. The programme aims to realise the company’s next 50-year vision of wellness and sustainable development for Viet Nam and contribute to the Net Zero CO2 emission commitment in Panasonic Green Impact.
The event was attended by nearly 100 Panasonic employees in cooperation with local authorities and people. Donated trees include Dipterocarpus alatus, Pterocarpus macrocarpus Kurz and Michelia tonkineni, which are carefully chosen in accordance with the expert consultation of Xuan Lien Management Board. In addition, 500 trees of Baccaurea sapida had been also planted at Ban Ma and Tien Son villages to create a green landscape and foster sustainable tourism development.
Tree planting is part of Eco Relay, Panasonic’s global initiative, to inspire its employees to become “sustainable ambassadors”, and to spread the message of environmental protection and the inspiration of sustainable development to communities.
In addition to planting trees, Panasonic's employees have joined together in various meaningful activities to support Xuan Lien Nature Reserve and neighbouring areas, such as eco-learning classes for students, and sustainable tourism workshops for local residents.
“The environment has been always put at the core in Panasonic’s activities for over 50 years in Viet Nam. That’s why we have consistently implemented the annual tree planting program for 10 consecutive years, to offer a meaningful opportunity for our employees to join hands contributing to a green Viet Nam and spreading the message of wellness and sustainable development to the community. Besides that, we aim to contribute our small part to Viet Nam’s efforts of planting one billion trees nationwide, as well as the country’s target of Net Zero CO2 by 2050, which I believe are in line with Panasonic Green Impact – the Group’s commitment to reduce CO2 emission to fight against global warming,” said Oka Hiroyuki, Director of Panasonic Vietnam. — VNS
