A new route connecting Van Don District in the VIet Nam's northern province of Quang Ninh and China's Hunan Province was launched by Chinese Qingdao Airline on Wednesday.
Chinese Qingdao Airline will offer charter flights on the route with a frequency of three flights per week on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
The latest addition has raised the number of international routes hosted by Van Don International Airport to three. Earlier, the Van Don – Shenzhen route was launched in May while the Seoul-Van Don route started operating from June 6.
Meanwhile, Van Don-HCM City, the only domestic route hosted by the airport, is being operated by Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet and Bamboo Airways with two flights per day on weekdays and three per day on Sundays.
So far, the Van Don International Airport has hosted more than 1,000 flights, including 26 international flights, carrying nearly 137,000 passengers.
In the future, the airport, which was put into operation in late 2018, will handle more flights from China’s Hainan and Kunming.
In late 2019, more international routes connecting Japan and Bangkok will be operated, along with those between Van Don and domestic localities of Da Nang, Kien Giang and Nha Trang. — VNS
