Low-cost carrier Jetstar Pacific Airline has officially launched a new direct flight between the central city of Da Nang and Kaohsiung, Taiwan with three return flights per week on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
The airline said the first flight, which will take off on August 10, will offer a promotional one-way ticket price of VND480,000 (US$20.8), and zero dong one-way ticket for booking from May 30 to June 2.
It said that 180-seat Airbus A320 aircraft will be used for the new flight, with travelling time of 2 hours and 15 minutes. The flight will leave Da Nang International Airport at 8.40am and return from Kaohsiung International Airport at 12.55am.
Jetstar said the Kaohsiung-Da Nang air route will carry 4,500 passengers traveling between the two cities each month.
It is the second direct air route between Da Nang and Taiwan after the first Da Nang-Taipei direct flight opened for five flights per week in 2016, according to airline representatives.
The city’s tourism department said Da Nang welcomed 36,000 tourists from Taiwan in 2018, a 30 per cent growth in comparison to 2017. And more than 14,000 Taiwanese visitors took part in paid tours in the central city in the first quarter of 2019.
The airline, the first in the region offering cheap flight tickets on this route, said it would offer the best flying service for Vietnamese and Taiwanese tourists in an aim to boost tourism and business trips between Da Nang and Taiwan.
Last year, the central city hosted 23 daily direct flights, of which eight were chartered flights, carrying 2.35 million tourists on 239 flights per week. — VNS
