Saigon Co-op, the country’s leading fast-moving consumer goods retailer, on August 31 opened a new Co.opmart supermarket in An Giang Province’s Tan Chau town, the 99th in the country and third in the province.

The store on Nguyen Du Street in Long Thanh Ward has an area of 2,400sq,m and cost nearly VND75 billion (US$3.2 million) to set up.

It sells more than 30,000 items, including fresh and processed foods, cosmetics, clothes and household utensils, 90 per cent of which are high-quality Vietnamese products.

Like all other Co.opmart outlets, it sells price-stabilised goods and acts as a conduit for Tan Chau town and the province’s specialities to enter the nation-wide Co.opmart chain.

At the opening, Co.opmart gave scholarships worth VND50 million to poor students in the town.

Also to mark its opening, the new outlet has launched promotion programmes until September 19, including discounts of up to 50 per cent on thousands of essential items, besides hundreds of attractive gifts to shoppers.

In addition, customers with bills worth at least VND300,000 can win attractive lucky-draw prizes like a Honda SHMode 2018 scooter, LG fridge, Samsung washing machine, Midea infrared cooker, and others. — VNS
