MM Mega Market Vietnam opened a new Depot in Sapa Town, northern Lao Cai Province, on May 21, expanding its distribution network system to five depots nationwide.
This is a significant step forward in the sustainable development and expansion of MM Vietnam in the distribution network system from 2020 to 2025 to serve better its professional customers, especially the Hotel–Restaurant–Catering/Cafe/Canteen (HORECA) channel.
"Viet Nam's tourism industry in the post-COVID-19 period is expected to recover and catch up with strong development momentum quickly. Throughout Viet Nam, MM is expanding its ability to meet growing customer demand for high-quality, responsibly and sustainably produced products. We look forward to bringing our expertise and supply capabilities closer to even more customers in Viet Nam," said Managing Director of MM Mega Market Vietnam Bruno Jousselin.
Located about two kilometres from the town centre, Sapa Depot spreads over a land area of 480 square metres. The total area of the warehouse is 394 square metres. Its target customers comprise business or professional customers who have been providing their products and services in the hospitality industry in Sapa.
As an important part of MM Mega Market Vietnam's supply chain and sourcing management, Sapa Depot aims to provide a wide range of leading-edge products to support customers' evolving demands better promptly and offer further solutions within 38 kilometres from Lao Cai city to the central area of Sapa. Major categories available at Sapa Depot include fresh food (45 per cent), dry food (45 per cent), and non-food (10 per cent).
"The opening of Sapa Depot at one of the famous tourist destinations in Viet Nam is part of the business strategy of MM - a leading food retailer for professional customers, specifically HORECA channel. We hope that Sapa Depot will bring to our customers not only high-quality products but also tailor-made solutions at competitive prices to unlock greater value for our customers. Furthermore, the investment will support economic development for Sapa in particular and Lao Cai in general," "added Jousselin.
Sapa is a small mountainous town with densely populated subdivisions in the country's northwest. Thus, the delivery and operational costs in Sapa have remained low. Meanwhile, Sapa has emerged as one of the most popular tourist attractions in the northern region, which has led to huge investments in local HORECA businesses. These businesses are seen as the main targets of MM Vietnam. — VNS
