HCM CITY (Biz Hub) — The well-known cartoon characters, "Minions," painted on one of Vietjet's brand new Airbus aircraft, promise to bring smiles to the faces of passengers boarding flights this summer.
First seen in the animation film "Despicable Me," the Minions are loved by millions of fans all over the world for their unique appearance, irresistible charm and unique laugh. A tie-up between Vietjet, Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment has brought the anime characters to Viet Nam.
Vietjet will hold a series of activities for passengers and promotions for fans during the week the film is launched in cinemas across the country, starting from July 10.
A few lucky travellers may even get to meet some Minions on board a special Vietjet flight as some of the loveable characters will make an appearance to greet passengers, present gifts and pose for photos.
The film's fans can visit the carrier's microsite, www.minions.vietjetair.com, every week for a chance to win return tickets from July 10 to July 30.
A Ha Noi resident Tien Minh is excited by the prospect of seeing the Minions not only on screen but also on Vietjet flights.
"It's a double joy for me as I have been a loyal customer of Vietjet for several years thanks to its affordable fares and interesting in-flight entertainment," he said.
Minh Ngoc, a student in HCM City, is looking for cheap tickets to get a chance to meet the Minions on board a Vietjet flight.
"Like many young people, I really love this film. And, of course, I also love to travel to domestic and international destinations as much as possible. What could be more fun than enjoying bargain trips with good companions like the Minions? This time, my wishes have come true," she said.
Vietjet is known for its creative and interesting in-flight activities, and this is not the first time it has signed an exclusive deal with prominent film studios to bring well-known animation figures to Viet Nam.
Earlier, Vietjet reached an agreement with Walt Disney Pictures to feature characters from the animation film "Planes" on the fuselage of one of its aircraft. Another aircraft features Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse. Moreover, the airline sponsored the cast from Mickey's Magic Show when it visited Viet Nam.
Besides cartoon characters, aircraft in Vietjet's fleet feature various logos and slogans showcasing Visa, the national tourist symbol of Viet Nam, Airbus's 9,000th aircraft, Vietjet's Skyboss ticket class, and many other corporations and brands. — VNS
