The Management Development Institute of Singapore (MDIS) will offer a new online Master's of Business Administration (MBA) in events management, health management, hospitality and tourism management, leadership and innovation, and marketing to meet the increasing demand for e-learning programmes.

The new e-learning MBA is a partnership between MDIS and Edinburgh Napier University in the UK. This globally-recognised qualification will develop individuals’ business skills and give them the expertise required for senior roles in any organisation.

MDIS said the flexible courses delivered online will build on work experience, while the curriculum will be tailored for the dynamic contemporary global business environment, focusing on development of skills in leadership and application of conceptual management theories to current practice.

Participants will acquire competencies in innovative and creative problem solving, critical thinking and strategic reasoning, and graduate with business competence and effective management skills.

Ignatius Teo, head of the MDIS Business School, said: “With a flexible study schedule using effective online teaching methods from videos to graphics and self-administered quizzes, MDIS-Edinburgh Napier Universities' online MBA programmes allow you to learn Innovative management and marketing skills at your own pace.”

The e-learning industry continues to expand, offering an ever-increasing array of e-learning tools and programmes to government bodies, companies and individuals. E-learning today is greater than ever, with the most rapid growth in emerging economies trying to close education gaps.

The combination of high convenience and accessibility are transforming e-learning into the predominant global educating force of the 21st century.

With economic pressure due to the outbreak of COVID-19, e-learning programmes are ideally suited to individuals who intend to balance their personal and professional commitments and study while working, and at a relatively lower cost compared to traditional classroom learning.

Founded in 1956, MDIS is Singapore’s oldest not-for-profit professional institute for lifelong learning. – VNS
