CITY (Biz Hub) — Korean supermarket chain Lotte Mart chain has launched a programme to buy cabbage from farmers in Lam Dong Province's Lac Duong District.

For three months now cabbage prices in Lac Duong have stayed at less than VND1,000 per kilogramme, causing farmers to suffer huge losses.

Lotte Mart has increased the purchase of cabbage from them to sell at its 13 outlets under its "Joining hands for farmers" programme.

La Duy Hieu of the supermarket's fruits and vegetables purchase division said nearly 25 tonnes of cabbage are expected to be sold under the programme, adding that based on demand, more could be bought from the farmers.
