The IREX Energy Joint Stock Company (JSC), a member of the SolarBK company, has begun construction of a high-tech renewable energy device factory complex in Phu My commune of the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau at a total investment of VND385 billion (US$17 million).
Company director Dong Van Sen said the project was a milestone for the solar power industry in Viet Nam.
He said the 3ha complex will be built in three phases between 2017-18, with the first phase expected to go into operation this June.
Sen said the complex will include a renewable energy factory and a research and development centre of renewable energy applications, a 150 MWp photovoltaic module factory and a 200 MWp solar cell factory.
The project will also help train and create jobs for over 300 high-quality workers, to boost development of the solar industry in Viet Nam and exports to the US and European markets.
The complex is also scheduled to develop solar-powered water heaters, wind power turbines, solar power-driven sea water filter systems and renewable use solutions. — VNS
