About 50 tonnes of lychees are expected to be sold on Lazada through the beginning of July, the company said.
This target is part of a project to promote the sustainable development of Vietnamese agricultural sector organised by e-commerce platform Lazada in collaboration with the Centre for Information and Digital Technology (CID), the Viet Nam e-Commerce and Digital Economy Agency (under the Ministry of Industry and Trade), Bac Giang Youth Union, and UFO Technology and Trading Company Ltd.
This strategic partnership aims to provide consumers with direct access to high-quality lychee products that meet European export quality standards. The programme represents a significant milestone in expanding distribution channels for small businesses in Bac Giang while offering exclusive opportunities for consumers in HCM City to experience exceptional lychee specialties.
Commencing on June 15 and lasting until July 2, 2023, consumers in HCM City will have the opportunity to purchase and enjoy three distinct types of Bac Giang’s specialty lychee products directly on Lazada, including U Hong lychee, Luc Ngan lychee, and Lai Som lychee.
The lychees are sourced directly from gardens before undergoing careful selection, classification, preservation, and packaging processes adhering to stringent standards.
Customers can expect delivery of their lychee products within a remarkable two- to four-hour timeframe, and at prices that are 25 per cent to 30 per cent lower than market prices.
"We are delighted to collaborate with Lazada and Foodmap in introducing businesses that adhere to VietGAP and GlobalGAP standards, providing consumers nationwide, particularly in the southern region, with the finest-quality lychees," said Bui Van Hoang, permanent deputy secretary of Bac Giang Youth Union.
"The programme offers a significant opportunity for local farmers and businesses to digitise and transition onto e-commerce platforms. It also reflects the pioneering spirit, adaptability, and dedication of Vietnamese youths to promote the image of lychees while contributing to the socio-economic development of the province as a whole," Hoang added. — VNS
