Food producer KIDO Group has donated VNĐ500 million (US$22,000) to the HCM City Sponsoring Association for Poor Patients to fund eye care for people living in the Cuu Long (Mekong) Delta.

Over 150 disadvantaged people from Tien Giang, Ca Mau, Bac Lieu, Ben Tre, Tay Ninh, An Giang, Long An, and Dong Nai provinces have received free treatment at Nguyễn Trãi Hospital in HCM City under a programme run by the association called “Bring light to poor patients living with cataract”.

It will soon be expanded to nation-wide.

For many years KIDO has been sponsoring charity programmes like giving gifts to disadvantaged people during Lunar New Year and subsidising health insurance for poor families and Vietnamese Heroic Mothers.

KIDO is one the biggest food producers in Viet Nam and its line-up includes cooking oil, ice cream, instant noodles, and canned foods.

In 2001-17, the company spent VND6.3 billion on social responsibility programmes, including funding surgeries for 6,870 cataract patients. – VNS
