QUANG NAM (Biz Hub) — Low-cost carrier Jetstar Pacific Airlines (JPA) is offering tickets for its new route between HCM City and Chu Lai, the eighth new domestic route this year.

General Director of the airline Le Hong Ha told Viet Nam News at the launch ceremony yesterday that the one-way ticket prices start from VND550,000.

Ha said the new route would connect HCM City and the economic zones in the central provinces of Quang Nam and Quang Ngai, as well as tourism destinations in the region.

There will be three return flights per week, with the first flight being launched on May 19. The flight will take off from HCM City's Tan Son Nhat airport at 11.20am and return from Chu Lai Airport at 1.30pm.

The airlines will use the 180-seat Airbus A-320 aircraft, with the travel time between HCM City and Chu Lai being one hour and 15 minutes.

A promotion programme also offers tickets costing VND250,000 for bookings between today and Friday for flights from May 19 to 22, and from September 7 to October 22.

Jetstar Pacific Airlines operates domestic flights from HCM City to Quy Nhon, Dong Hoi and Tuy Hoa; from Buon Ma Thuot to Thanh Hoa and Hai Phong; and from Ha Noi to Phu Quoc and Da Lat.

Last year, the budget airline launched new routes from Ha Noi and Da Nang to Macao.

Another budget airline, VietJetAir, will also launch its new route from HCM City to Chu Lai Airport, with four weekly flights, from May 19.

Quang Nam Province provides free bus transport to air passengers from its capital city Tam Ky to Chu Lai Airport.

Chu Lai airport, which began operating in 2005, allows landings by 50-seater ATR-72 aircraft and Fokker 70 only.

Future plans call for the airport to host 2.3 million passengers and 1.5 million tonnes of cargo by 2025. — VNS
