Steel producer Hoa Sen Group has been named a winner of the 2018 Viet Nam National Quality Awards.

The awards honour companies and organisations for outstanding results in improving product quality, and are part of the Global Performance Excellence Awards (GPEA) given since 1996 by the Asia Pacific Quality Organisation.

As one of the leading steel producers in Viet Nam and Southeast Asia, Hoa Sen Group has kept investing in products and services to strengthen its competitiveness in the Vietnamese and international markets.

The company said it has invested a lot of resources in technology so that all its products are made in modern production chains using advanced technologies imported from foreign countries.

Thanks to this the products meet quality standards in many markets like the USs ASTM, the EUs EN, Japans JIS, Australias AS, Indias BIS, and Indonesias SNI.

Hoa Sen reported recently that after two years of efforts it has successfully installed an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system, which helps connect it with 10 plants and 563 retail stores across the country.

The system is helping cut expenses and improve operational efficiencies, it said.

Vu Van Thanh, deputy general director of the company, said the award is a chance for the company to recognise its strengths and weaknesses and set the course for further development.

It infuses energy to analyse and create new products for the market, he said.

Hoa Sen is a major steel exporter which ships its products to over 75 markets including the US and EU.

At home, it is the biggest player with a 34 per cent share of the steel sheet market.

Thanks to its efforts, it has won the National Quality Award multiple times in addition to other awards. – VNS
