The University Medical Centre in HCM City and mobile payment company MoMo on October 10 signed an agreement to promote cashless payments at the hospital.

MoMo will support the hospital in terms of technology solutions for transactions using digital wallets and mobile apps.

MoMo e-wallet users can now conveniently pay their hospital bills using their mobile devices.

The move is in response to the Ministry of Health’s plan to promote cashless payments in the health sector, Thai Hoai Nam, deputy director of the hospital, said.

The hospital has increasingly adopted advanced information technologies in its administrative and managerial activities and customer service in an effort to improve convenience for its patients, he said.

It has deployed various non-cash payment solutions, including mobile banking and digital wallets, that help simplify administrative procedures and reduce queues and waiting time, he added.

Cashless payments now account for 35 per cent of bill payments at the hospital, which gets 8,500 patients a day.

With over 12 million mobile e-wallet customers, MoMo provides a range of services through a simple, one-touch, smartphone-based application.

It has linked up with 22 banks to enable users with bank accounts add funds easily access to their MoMo e-wallets. — VNS
