Food delivery service GrabFood has expanded to 18 provinces and cities.

In January GrabFood, a member of the Grab ride hailing platform, said it has entered Thanh Hoa Province and Vinh in Nghe An in the central region, and Pleiku in Gia Lai Province in the Central Highlands. Last year its food order jumped by 1,800 per cent to an average of 300,000 orders per day.

Jerry Lim, representative of Grab Vietnam, said along with improving service quality, the company is also trying more initiatives to advertise local foods.

Last weekend GrabFood, the People’s Committee of HCM City’s District 5 and Outbox Consulting organised a cuisine event called “Bep An Cho Lon” (Cho Lon Kitchen).

Meant to introduce the culture, including foods, of District 5’s ethnic Chinese to the city’s dwellers, the 30 booths at the event selling some iconic dishes of District 5 attracted many visitors.

Visitors, besides trying the foods, also had the chance to watch entertainment shows, play games and cook District 5 foods.

Organisers launched the Cho Lon Food Story Photobook to introduce the 10 most important dishes of the district chosen by GrabFood users and locals.
