Gojek, Southeast Asia’s leading mobile on-demand services platform, has announced two new initiatives to support its driver and merchant partners, as well as consumers, amid current COVID-19 restrictions in Viet Nam.

Phung Tuan Duc, Gojek Vietnam General Manager, said: “The pandemic has left no one unaffected. It has put lives in uncertainty and created an economic downturn like no other. Protecting the health and livelihood of everyone in the Gojek ecosystem is our top priority.”

“We’re committed to continuing to find new ways to help our merchant partners survive and grow, our driver partners earn a stable income, and our consumers meet their daily needs affordably. We are in this together,” he added.

The company will provide driver partners directly impacted by Covid-19 with cash support of up to VND200,000 (US$8.6) per day, and additional incentives for GoFood orders.

Top-tier driver partners, who achieve 95% performance rating on average and 4.96 of 5 star ratings, will receive VND200,000 per day for a 21-day period after a positive COVID-19 test or receipt of a quarantine order from a government agency.

Other driver partners will receive VND100,000 per day under the same conditions.

All driver partners who achieve a 7-day average performance rating of above 85% on GoFood orders will receive VND100,000 per day in Ha Noi and VND150,000 in HCM City.

These policies are designed to give Gojek’s driver partners greater peace of mind as they continue to provide vital services for communities, as well as to ensure a sufficient supply of driver partners to meet users’ increasing demand for food and package delivery.

In addition, Gojek will offer free delivery for all GoFood orders at merchant partners in key districts in HCM City and Ha Noi, as part of the campaign "Freeship zone: As long as the shop is open, Gojek will provide freeship."

The campaign aims to make life a little easier for Gojek users, as many restaurants and eateries have been forced to close temporarily or restrict dine-in services.

Its first phase includes discounts for consumers as well as free delivery fees (capped at VND15,000) on all GoFood orders valued at VND40,000 or more at merchant partners located in districts Binh Thanh, Tan Binh, 1, 3 and 10 in HCM City, and Cau Giay, Dong Da and Hai Ba Trung districts in Ha Noi.

Because “Freeship Zones” cover densely populated areas where eateries and restaurants are abundant, the campaign helps consumers to have no hesitation in placing multiple orders, and offers additional income earning opportunities for Gojek merchants. — VNS
