Gojek launched its app in Viet Nam on Wednesday, the first market it has done so outside its home country, Indonesia.
It offers motorbike ride-hailing (GoBike), logistics (GoSend) and food delivery (GoFood), and more services would be added in the near future, the company said.
The company’s co-CEOs Kevin Aluwi and Andre Soelistyo said: “Today marks a significant moment in Gojek’s journey and in our long-term commitment to Viet Nam. We continue to see immense potential for growth and impact in the country, and we are proud and excited to introduce the Gojek Super App experience to an existing and new generation of users.”
Gojek has more than 150,000 drivers and 80,000 food merchants in Ha Noi and HCM City.
Underpinned by a new international technology platform, the app is designed to enable the company to more efficiently roll out new offerings to adapt and scale up depending on changing needs and priorities, the company said.
Phung Tuan Duc, general manager, Gojek Vietnam, said: “In under two years, we have grown exponentially, attracting millions of users and a thriving partner eco-system. As Gojek, we will be able to transform user experience, innovate more quickly, increase income-earning opportunities and create a lasting positive impact in Viet Nam for years to come.”
Users can access the app in all countries where the company operates: Viet Nam, Indonesia and Singapore. The app will be available in Thailand in a few weeks’ time.
To mark the launch, on August 5, Gojek is offering flat fares of VND1,000 during peak hours for GoRide trips of 15km or less in both HCM City and Ha Noi, and a free drink from 2pm to 5pm from more than 900 participating GoFood merchants.
It is also kicking off a voucher campaign to encourage users to try the Super App experience until September 30. — VNS
