Geleximco Group Joint Stock Company and An Binh Commercial Joint Stock Bank donated VND20 billion (over US$868,000) to the national COVID-19 vaccine fund in Ha Noi last Saturday.

Nguyen Thi Huong, deputy general director of ABBANK, said: “We have all witnessed how the COVID-19 epidemic not only wreaks havoc on people's health but also weakens the global economy.

“This is a time when we all have to join hands, share and support each other to get through this difficult time together. Support from big businesses is important and necessary at this time.”

Last year ABBANK had donated VND3 billion (more than $130,000) to the HCM City Viet Nam Fatherland Front Committee to buy COVID-19 test kits, VND2 billion ($86,800) to Bach Mai Hospital and VND200 million to Da Nang City’s fund for the fight against the epidemic, and donated a number of contributions made by its employees.

Customers transferring money to COVID funds through the bank do not have to pay fees.

Geleximco Group has donated a total of VND22.6 billion ($983,900) to combat the epidemic, including VND10 billion to the Hai Phong City COVID-19 fund, VND7 billion to the Ha Noi Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, and VND1 billion to the Long An Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee.

It has also donated materials and biological products for COVID-19 testing worth VND3 billion to Thai Binh Province and an ambulance costing VND1.6 billion to the Hanoi Medical University Hospital. — VNS
