Geleximco Group and An Binh Commercial Joint Stock Bank (ABBANK) have donated four ambulances costing nearly VND7 billion (US$307,874) for transporting COVID-19 patients to the Ministry of Public Security.

This is their third substantial donation since the resurgence of the pandemic in late April, which is now worth more than VND70 billion ($3.08 million).

They gave VND20 billion ($875,242) to the Government’s COVID-19 vaccine fund in June and 500 ventilators costing VND25 billion to frontline HCM City hospitals in July.

Geleximco has since April donated VND10 billion each to the Hai Phong City COVID fund and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee in Ha Noi, VND1 billion to the Long An Province Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, VND3 billion worth of COVID testing equipment to Thai Binh Province and an ambulance costing VND1.6 billion to the Hanoi Medical University Hospital.

ABBANK donated VND3 billion to the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee in HCM City to buy COVID-19 test kits, VND2 billion to Bach Mai Hospital in Ha Noi and VND200 million to a Da Nang epidemic fund.

Its employees too have donated, including nearly VND200 million to support staff and students at the Hanoi Medical University involved in combating COVID in Binh Duong Province.

Deputy Minister of Public Security Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Son appreciated Geleximco and ABBANK’s contributions, saying “[They] will not only be useful during the pandemic time but also in future.”

Vu Van Tien, Geleximco Group chairman and ABBANK vice chairman, said: "Our companies always want and are ready to accompany the frontline forces, and so today we donate to the Ministry of Public Security ambulances fully equipped with medical equipment to serve emergency, first aid, testing, and others to support the frontline forces in pandemic prevention and timely treatment.” — VNS
