Fashion Link JSC, which has supplied green materials to the fashion industry since 2008, and Singtex, one of the leading providers of eco-friendly functional textiles in Taiwan (China) have signed an agreement for supplying S. Café® coffee fabric in Việt Nam.
They will join hands to promote sustainable development of Việt Nam's garment and fashion industry through S.Café® fabric technology.
Faslink will supply the coffee fabric produced using Singtex’s proprietary production technology in Việt Nam.
The two will also launch a recycling programme for used clothing items made from S.Café® fabrics.
Faslink will deploy a project that will collect coffee grounds in Việt Nam and transform them into sustainable textile products in line with Singtex standards.
It will support GaiA Nature Conservation Center to plant at least 1,000 trees in Bến En National Park in Thanh Hóa Province with fund derived from the revenue generated from the S.Café® fabric application product.
In addition, Faslink and Singtex will launch new sustainable fashion product lines, combining Singtex's yarn technology and Faslink's design expertise.
At the signing ceremony on March 13, Faslink also signed a memorandum of understanding with the BambuUp innovation platform to enhance its internal innovation capacity, R&D activities and technology application in fashion.
Trần Hoàng Phú Xuân, CEO of Faslink, said through the partnership with Singtex, Faslink will continue to apply superior technology for developing yarn and fabric product lines from coffee grounds, meeting the needs of the textile industry and paving the way for a more sustainable future.
Jason Chen, CEO and founder of Singtex, appreciated Faslink's efforts to promote the sustainable development of the fashion industry in Việt Nam.
The two will go hand-in-hand in many new projects, sharing technology and experience to bring the best experiences in using green fashion products to Vietnamese consumers, he added.
Singtex invented in 2008 the S.Café® eco-friendly coffee yarn made from plastic bottles and coffee grounds.
It is a green, high-tech yarn that is environment-friendly, de-odorizing, fast drying, and UV-resistant, and has a number of different applications.
The S.Café® fabric processing process has the lowest environmental impact by reducing carbon emissions by 50 per cent, saving 30 per cent of energy and 70 per cent of water used in the dyeing process. — VNS
