FrieslandCampina Viet Nam’s Dutch Lady brand on Friday began the “For Vietnam to Leap Forward and Reach Higher” programme at the Phu Hfa 3 Primary School in the southern province of Binh Duong.

It handed over a ‘Challenge-Ready’ playground and a ‘Dutch Lady’ nutrition corner to the school.

The school’s students also joined a dance dubbed ‘Leap forward and Reach higher.’

The programme is expected to bring useful experiences for students across the country, helping improve their awareness of nutrition, create balanced nutrition habits and develop their physical health.

It also aims to build a strong foundation for the new generation to ‘leap forward and reach higher.’

The success of the event was an important milestone in the long-standing strategic partnership between FrieslandCampina through its Dutch Lady brand and the Ministry of Education and Training.

It also was a good sign for carrying on with this programme for other schools.

FrieslandCampina Viet Nam’s total commitment over five years is VND55 billion (US$2.3 million), starting with VND11 billion ($474,435) for the 2020-21 academic year.

Under the programme, booths to disseminate information about nutrients will be set up at 1,250 primary schools around the country within five years. Students at these schools will have their weight and height monitored.

Sixty-five playgrounds will be built.

Extra-curricular activities to improve students’ knowledge about nutrients and create a habit of using nutrients naturally will be organised at 1,500 primary schools, benefiting more than 1.5 million students.

It also encourages students to increase physical activities to help develop good health to ‘leap forward and reach higher.’

Trinh Hoai Thu, deputy head of the Ministry of Education and Training’s primary education department, said: “The partnership with the company is vital in this stage of educational reform. It helps improve the quality of physical education teaching.”

Le Thi Kim Thuy, principal of Phu Hoa Primary School 3, said: “Students now have little time for physical activities. Primary school students especially need activities to develop their physical health besides proper nutrition.”

Ta Thuy Ha, director of consumer dairy at FrieslandCampina Vietnam, said : “In its 25-year journey in Viet Nam, FrieslandCampina and Dutch Lady have paid attention to education and comprehensive development of Vietnamese children.

“The ‘For Vietnam to Leap Forward and Reach Higher’ programme reconfirms our commitments and aspirations to contribute more to the socio-economic development of Viet Nam in which ‘Better nutrition for Vietnamese children’ is one of our three key pillars.” VNS
