The Dutch Lady and Yomost brands of FrieslandCampina Vietnam have donated 42,000 glasses of milk worth VND320 million (US$13,908,000) to the frontline medical staff in Quang Ninh Province, where a COVID-19 outbreak has occurred.

Ta Thuy Ha, marketing director of FrieslandCampina Vietnam, said the gift would help them enhance their resistance and help them in their fight COVID-19.

“We are proud to be one of the pioneering firms accompanying the government and the Ministry of Health to support the frontline anti-epidemic team and people in epidemic-hit areas under our mission ‘For Vietnam to Leap Forward and Reach Higher’ to mark 25 years of operations by the group in Viet Nam.”

The Quang Ninh Obstetrics and Paediatrics Hospital said the gifts were highly appreciated by all the medical staff, who are playing a vital role in the fight against the virus.

According to the the provincial Health Department, more than 7,000 medical staff, from both the public and private healthcare system, in the province have been mobilised to contain the outbreak. Most of them have been working 10-20 hours a day to test a huge number of samples since January 28 when a new wave of Covid-19 broke out in the province.

The donation is part of the programme ‘Better Nutrition For The World, We Care We Share’ launched last year to express gratitude to the community and to fight the pandemic.

As of today (February 1), the province had recorded 25 cases of locally transmitted cases, becoming one of the country’s two epicentres besides Hai Duong Province. — VNS
