Dow received the Amcham CSR Recognition Award 2016 for its sustainable Corporate Social Responsible (CSR) practices in Viet Nam for the second consecutive year.

The prestigious award demonstrates public recognition for Dow’s active engagement in helping the Vietnamese address pressing challenges, such as Access to Safe and Clean Drinking Water, Sustainable Operations and Environment Protection.

“CSR initiatives serve as a principal focus of our business strategy and we are proud to be honoured by Amcham with the CSR Recognition Award for the second consecutive year. This very award inspires us to keep contributing to Viet Nam’s sustainable growth in all areas of our business operations,” General Director of Dow Vietnam Tomoyuki Sasama said.

US Ambassador to Viet Nam, Ted Osius said at the award ceremony: “I am delighted to congratulate Dow on its second consecutive recognition. I greatly appreciate Dow’s outstanding work in Vietnam, both in its contributions to the country’s economic growth and in its efforts to bring clean water to underserved communities”.

One of Dow’s most notable CSR initiatives in 2016 was providing eight water purification systems to rural schools and hospitals, which benefited more than 4,000 students and patients with safe and clean drinking water. Dow’s most recent CSR initiative includes its joint efforts in making "Hanoi Lakes Cleaner," and conserving water resources and protecting environment with the participation of more than 1,200 volunteers.

Dow also carried out several other CSR activities, such as programmes on empowering more than 2,300 enterprises in 38 nationwide provinces with knowledge on cleaner production and waste management; building houses for the underprivileged and improving school facilities and learning conditions for more than 1,000 pupils and providing scholarships to talented students. — VNS
