HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Dai-ichi Life Insurance Company Vietnam launched its CSR Foundation "For A Better Life" at a ceremony in Ha Noi on September 20.

With initial assets worth more than VND20 billion (US$890,000), the foundation aims to support the community in the fields of education, medicine, healthcare, environment and other charity activities to improve the quality of life of the Vietnamese people and for the development of human resources in Viet Nam.

"The foundation 'For A Better Life' will facilitate the implementation of long-term and regular social activities across the country in the near future, contributing to affirming Dai-ichi Life Vietnam's reputation and our commitment to sustainable development in Vietnam in the long run," Takasahi Fujii, chairman of Dai-ichi Life Vietnam, said.

Over the past nine years, Dai-ichi Life Vietnam has donated over VND15 billion ($670,000) to its CSR programmes, such as blood donation, funding scholarships for needy and hardworking students, granting life insurance policies to disadvantaged teachers, financing eye operations for the poor and offering aid to the families affected by the floods in the central provinces.

Dai-ichi Life Vietnam was presented the "Corporate Social Responsibility Award" twice by the magazine Asia Insurance Review for its programme "For A Better Life," under which water purifying systems were installed to provide clean drinking water to more than 18,000 pupils of schools in Viet Nam's rural areas in 2013, and the programme "A million red bricks, bridging the happiness," under which 10 bridges were built to facilitate safe and convenient transportation for villagers in rural areas in 2015. — VNS
