HCM CITY (Biz Hub) — Saigon Co.op yesterday broke ground for Co.opmart Chau Doc in An Giang, its second store in the province.

The 8,400sq.m supermarket will cost more than VND180 billion (US$8.08 million) to build and sell more than 30,000 items, 90 per cent of them Vietnamese high-quality products.

Scheduled to open in the first quarter of next year, Co.opmart Chau Doc will also sell price-stabilised goods and act as a bridge for the province's specialties to enter the Co.opmart chain.

It is being set up together with the An Giang Agriculture and Foods Import Export JS Company.

With two border gates with Cambodia – Tinh Bien and Vinh Xuong –  Chau Doc serves as an important gateway for trade in the Mekong Delta. — VNS
