Co.op Food convenience store chain is using buses to deliver purchase orders to authorities in HCM City buying on behalf of the public, who have been told to stay at home.
With the new method, the authorities only need to assign a representative to pool orders from local residents and send them to Co.op Food instead of sending a task force to supermarkets to collect the goods, transport and distribute them.
Co.op Food delivers the goods to designated collection points, and local officials then distribute them to households.
It not only reduces the number of personnel and time required to buy the goods, but also minimises the risk of infection at supermarkets, resolves transportation difficulties amid a shortage of shippers and ensures food hygiene and safety.
The bus deliveries would prioritise supply of essential goods, foods and fresh foodstuffs and spices at stabilised prices, especially in areas where supermarkets and food stores are temporarily closed, Vo Thi Ngoc Huong, chairwoman and director of Co.op Food Company, said.
Co.op Food is implementing the programme all over HCM City. Those in charge of buying goods can place orders via Co.op Food’s hotline at 1900 5555 68 or 0909.662.806. — VNS
