Co May targets 1,000 rice retail outlets

CITY (Biz Hub) — Co May Sai Gon Co., Ltd, an affiliate of Co May Private Enterprise in Dong Thap Province, opened a retail shop in HCM City's District 10 on July 23 which sells rice that meets HACCP food safety standards.

Gao Ngon Bon Mua (Delicious Rice of Four Seasons), available in vacuum plastic bags of five kilos each, will sell for VND100,000 (US$4.45) each during the initial phase.

Pham Minh Thien, director of Co May Sai Gon Co., Ltd, said the company expected to launch two more high-grade rice varieties, Long Chau 66 and Ngoc Sa, to meet customer demand.

The company also plans to expand its retail network by co-operating with rice agents and groceries to meet its target of 1,000 retail outlets by the year-end and 3,000 by the end of next year.

Co May this year has exported 350,000 tonnes of high-grade rice to Singapore.

The company has invested VND45 billion ($2.01 million) in building a dormitory at Nong Lam University which provides free accommodation and tuition for needy students. — VNS
