CJ Group Vietnam and its member companies have decided to allocate more than VNĐ1.7 billion (US$68,500) to support residents severely impacted by Typhoon Yagi in northern Việt Nam.

This includes a cash donation of over VNĐ1.26 billion sent through the Hồ Chí Minh City Fatherland Front Committee, as well as approximately VNĐ500 million in kind (such as animal feed) that has been delivered to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Chang Bok Sang, Chairman of CJ Group Vietnam, said: “We are committed to standing alongside the Government and the community to mitigate the effects of natural disasters and assist those in urgent need."

As of the end of September 2024, CJ Group has reported significant losses for its member companies due to the disaster.

CJ Vina Agri has been the hardest hit by the typhoon, with estimated losses of almost VNĐ11 billion.

TOUS les JOURS has incurred losses of nearly VNĐ500 million due to power outages in Hải Phòng and damage from ceiling leaks in stores in Hà Nội, resulting in the disposal of many perishable goods.

Meanwhile, CJ Gemadept is currently negotiating with insurers regarding the inventory damage caused by flooding at its centres and warehouses, estimated at around 1,520 pallets.

These losses might impact the supply chain and business operations in the near future, CJ Group said. — VNS
