Chinese solar panel giant pours more capital into Thái Nguyên Province

Trina Solar Group, one of the leading solar manufacturers in China, has expanded its operations in Thái Nguyên Province with a total investment of nearly US$900 million in developing renewable energy.

On Sunday, Deputy Prime Minister Trần Lưu Quang held a meeting with leaders of Trina Solar Group at the Government Office, according to chinhphu.vn.

Trina Solar Group has invested in two projects in Yên Bình Industrial Park, Thái Nguyên Province, with a total outlay of $478 million.

In particular, Trina Solar Việt Nam Energy Development Company, which was established in 2020, carries out the Trina Solar Energy Development Factory project to produce photovoltaic cell panels, while Trina Solar (Việt Nam) Wafer Company implements Trina Solar Wafer project to produce silicon bars and monocrystalline silicon panels.

In phase 3 of the projects, Trina Solar Group proposed to inject an additional $420 million into Thái Nguyên Province. This is considered the group's largest investment abroad in the photovoltaic sector.

Speaking at the meeting, the Deputy PM highlighted that investing in renewable energy is in line with global trends and Việt Nam’s growth orientation.

Quang asked Trina Solar Group to create opportunities for Vietnamese businesses to engage in the auxiliary device supply chain to bring benefits to both sides, helping Việt Nam gradually develop its industry.

He also requested the leaders of Thái Nguyên Province to continue supporting the group with the most favourable conditions to bring the project into operation soon. — VNS
